Zaidee’s first husband, Leland Pease Thayer, died in 1918 in Syracuse, New York. This was the year of World War I and the Great Influenza Epidemic. He was probably stationed at Camp Syracuse where hundreds of soldiers contracted and spread this deadly virus.

Albert’s First Wife:

Anna E Phelps:

Anna was born in 1875 in Macedon, Wayne County, New York, USA. She died in 1901 in Richmond, Ontario County, New York, USA. Ann was 26 years old when she died.

Anna’s father was Lorenzo D Phelps. He was born in 1835 in New York, USA. He died on 1 MAR 1914 in Macedon, Wayne County, New York, USA.

Anna’s mother was Sarah. I do not know her maiden name. She was born in 1836 in New York, USA. She may have died in 1902 in Macedon, Wayne County, New York, USA.

Anna had three brothers and sisters:

Stephen Phelps (1862)
George Phelps (1868)
Ida M Phelps (1872)

Albert’s Second Wife:

Zaidee R Fuller:

Zaidee was born in 1877 in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York, USA. She died on 30 JAN 1948 in Livonia, Livingston County, New York, USA.

The given name Zaidee is unique. It is a variation of Sadie which is a nickname for the given name Sarah.

Zaidee had previously married Leland Pease Thayer around 1909 in Livonia, Livingston County, New York, USA. One known child was born during their marriage:

Eleanor Thayer (1912)

Leland Pease Thayer was born on 19 SEP 1885 in Avon, Livingston County, New York, USA. He died on 28 SEP 1918 in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York, USA. Leland was 33 years old when he died.

When anyone dies in 1918, I think of the Great Influenza Epidemic and World War I. Both of these events caused millions of deaths worldwide.

Leland’s draft registration card was dated 12 SEP 1918. He was living with a relative in Syracuse, Onondaga County, New York, USA. Leland may have been stationed at Camp Syracuse, an army training base. He died 16 days later.

The Syracuse.com website notes that Camp Syracuse was the epicenter of the influenza virus. In September 1918, hundreds of soldiers had fallen ill. By the end of October 1918, a total of 900 people died in Syracuse from the flu.

Zaidee’s Parents:

Zaidee’s father was Clarkson Dye Fuller. He was born in 1845 in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York, USA. He died on 19 JUN 1905 in Wareham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, USA.

Zaidee’s mother was Charlotte. She was born in 1845 in Canada. I do not know her maiden name or when she died.

On the 1880 US Census, Clarkson’s marital status was listed as widowed. Charlotte may have died between 1877 and 1880.

Zaidee had two brothers and sisters:

James Henry Fuller (1870)
Fanny E Fuller (1871)

After Charlotte died, Clarkson married a widow, Hannah E Adams White, on 28 Sep 1885 in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York, USA. Clarkson was 40 years old and Hannah was 50 years old.

On the 1900 US Census, Clarkson’s marital status was listed as divorced. He was living in Wareham, Plymouth County, Massachusetts, USA.

On the 1900 US Census, Hannah’s marital status was listed as widowed. She was living in Melrose, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA. The entry indicated that she had immigrated to the US in 1863.

Hannah Elizabeth Adams was born in 1835 in Truro, Colchester, Nova Scotia, Canada. I do not know when she died.

The 1910 US Census shows that Hannah and Lucy were living with her son, Charles, in Melrose, Middlesex Couty, Massachusetts, USA. Hannah was 75 years old.

Hannah had previously marred Thomas G White around 1855 in Nova Scotia, Canada. Three known children were born during their marriage. All the children were born in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York, USA.

Charles A White (1856)
Lucy S White (1859)
Ruth E White (1864)

Thomas G White was born in 1832 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He died in 1883 in Troy, Rensselaer County, New York, USA.

Notes:

John Adams (1595 to 1633) was the first person with that English surname to immigrate to North America from England. In 1621, John boarded the Fortune. This was the second ship, after the Mayflower, to bring Puritans to North America. In late November of that year, the Fortune arrived at Plymouth Colony. John was the progenitor of all the Adams descendants listed in these posts.

Creating Your Family Tree

Interested in building a great family tree? Remember these important steps:

Look in your photo albums. You may have old pictures that your parents or grandparents gave you. Or, ask them for copies of photos that they have in their possession. Many people will write names and dates on the backs of photographs. Letters, diaries, and family bibles are also excellent sources for births, marriages, and deaths.

Talk to your older relatives to find out about your ancestry. They may relate stories about an ancestor that you can add to your family tree. Family history is usually not found in newspapers. It is more of a verbal memory that is passed down from generation to generation.

Find the right family tree builder that suits your needs. You can choose one that has a paid subscription like Ancestry.com. There are also free sites like FamilySearch.org.

When you start building your family tree, add documentation to your ancestor’s profile. The records can include birth, marriage, death, census, military, city, and county directory listings. Any information that you can find will help create a life story about your ancestor.

If you have a unique surname, like Wakenight, you may find databases on the internet that are useful in your search. I use SurnameDB.com for my English surnames. There are many others on the internet for other countries like Ireland, Italy, and Germany.

Genealogy is the study of a person’s “line of descent.” As you create your family tree, you would typically start with one individual and go “back into time.” You would add their parents, grandparents, and so on.  There are also family trees that go “forward into time.”  Many of these family trees start with a famous person, such as a president or royalty, and move forward into the present time.  The purpose of this type of pedigree is to establish a person’s bloodline with that famous person.

There is no limit on how big your family tree can grow. The blank canvas is there for you to use. Cherish your family history, and it will be there for generations to come!
